-
Are your lessons session-based?Our swim program follows the school year and runs from September - June. This is to help remove the stress of registering for sessions and allows you to keep the same day and time for the whole season.
-
Do swimming lessons run on holidays? No, we follow the school board holidays and do not conduct lessons during those times, such as March Break and other statutory holidays.
-
Is tuition prorated?Yes, tuition is prorated if there are less than 4 lessons in a month.
-
What is your policy on makeup lessons? We offer makeup lessons with 24 hours notice. One makeup token is issued per month, which can be used to schedule a lesson on another day and time. Please note that there are no refunds or credits for makeup classes. We have additional instructors available to teach makeup classes.
-
What happens if a month has 5 classes? If a month has 5 classes, no makeup token will be granted for the fifth lesson that month. The fifth lesson will serve as the makeup class, so no additional makeup token will be provided. The reasoning is that tuition is charged at 4 classes per month. If there are 5 classes in a month, the fifth one is considered the makeup class for that month, so a separate makeup token is not necessary.
-
Are there any discounts available for swimming lessons?Yes, we offer a 20% sibling discount on swimming lessons.
-
What locations do you teach at?We teach out of the LA Fitness pools in Oshawa, Whitby, North York, and Vaughan.
-
What training do your instructors receive/have?All of our instructors are certified Swim Instructors through the Lifesaving Society swim program and they are National Lifeguard Certified with Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’.
-
Do parents/caregivers need to be in the water?Parents/Caregivers do not need to be in the water unless they are under the age of 3 years. If your child is over 3 years old and you would like to go in the water with them for the first class or two to help transition them that’s fine but we recommend trying with just the instructor. Tears are normal and our instructors know how to handle it.
-
How can I track my child's progress in swimming lessons? Our instructors regularly update your child's progress online. You can view all their skills and progress in your account under your child’s evaluations on our dedicated app.
-
What is the ratio for swim lessons?Private lessons are 1:1 Semi-private lessons are 2:1 Small group lessons range from 3:1 to 5:1 depending on age.
-
Can you swim in the pool before/after my child’s lesson? If you are an LA Fitness member you are welcome to swim and must follow their rules as they do not have a lifeguard on deck.
-
Can we leave the pool deck/facility?Parents/caregivers are to remain on deck during the lesson. If you need to step out because you’re getting too warm you are welcome to sit or stand outside the pool area.
